Maksymilian proved he could be cool as a cucumber in front of a very large excited crowd at the Washington International Horse Show for the $25,000 Grand Prix Dressage Challenge. In the Thursday night Grand Prix class, Jane and Mak received a 68.333% and finished 2nd place behind Courtney King and Idocus. Mak was on his game and behaved like a grown up while he was in the ring, despite the boistrous cheering fans during WIHS "Barn Night" where prizes are awarded to groups based on best enthusiasm and spirit. Mak seemed to enjoy the attention. For the Friday night Grand Prix Freestyle, the pair made a slight mistake in their first set of one tempis but pulled out a great second set of flawless one tempis and bold extensions. They scored a 68.875% finishing again in 2nd place behind Courtney and Idocus... |

At the ESDCTA Memorial Weekend Dressage Show in New Jersey, Jane and Mak tried out their new freestyle - twice! On Saturday, they scored a 68%, finishing in second place, and on Sunday they scored 67% and took home the blue ribbon in the High Performance Grand Prix Freestyle class. Jane and Mak love their powerful, bold, new trot extension right out of the halt and their double pirouettes and tempi changes seem to go on forever. Their new music is a combination of Rob Dougan, Mozart, and Procession Of The Sardar by Ippolitov Ivanov. It seems Jane prefers the way her old canter music accented Mak's stride, Carmen: Habanera, by Bizet, so she is planning a return to Carmen for the CDI in Raleigh, North Carolina, but with her new choregography for the weekend of June 1st. |
